The Integral History Treatise on Club Atlético Boca Juniors – Methodology Applied to Historical Research proposes an approach to the history of Club Atlético Boca Juniors from a broad, documentary and methodological perspective. The work is based on a central premise: the history of a sporting institution cannot be reduced exclusively to the results achieved in its principal sporting discipline. Rather, it must reconstruct the full range of sporting, cultural, social, economic and political-institutional relationships that have shaped its historical development.

The concept of Integral History developed in the Treatise is structured around three principal dimensions: sporting, cultural and political-institutional. These dimensions are not examined as isolated compartments, but in their continuous interaction, with the aim of understanding how each has contributed to the historical formation of the Club.

The work focuses particularly on the methodology of historical research. It argues that research must begin with the facts and proceed through the critical and systematic selection of sources, avoiding the reduction of institutional history to a mere compilation of anecdotes, recollections or statistics.

One of the central elements of the proposed method is the cross-referencing of sources. No document should be considered in isolation: the information obtained must be compared with other sources in order to establish its context, provenance, temporal framework and possible relationship with other events.

Another fundamental principle is the understanding that a sporting event cannot be separated from the historical context in which it takes place. Decisions made by a board of directors, the construction of a headquarters or stadium, the establishment of a new sporting discipline, an institutional election or an international tour may be connected with economic, social, political and cultural factors. Integral History therefore seeks to reconstruct these connections and explain how different events influence one another.

This approach finds concrete expression in research conducted into different periods and dimensions of Boca Juniors' history. The year 1953, for example, was examined through several distinct lines of investigation, giving rise to studies of football, amateur sports, culture, and political and institutional history. These works demonstrate how different research projects can complement one another to construct an integral understanding of a single season.

Ultimately, the Integral History Treatise on Club Atlético Boca Juniors does not seek merely to recount the history of Boca Juniors, but to reflect on how that history should be researched, documented, interpreted and written. Its methodological proposal approaches the Club as a complex historical institution, embedded within a particular society and historical period, whose development must be reconstructed through the interrelation of its different dimensions.

The book has also been published in English and French, inviting historians from different countries to participate in the historical debate surrounding Club Atlético Boca Juniors (CABJ). In doing so, the Treatise seeks to extend the discussion beyond Argentina and encourage international engagement with the methodological questions, historical interpretations and research perspectives involved in the study of the Club.

The Treatise also examines issues relating to method, methodology, information recording, the preparation of research records, documentary selection, historical interpretation and problems of causality.
